We recently had the chance for an interview with the talented and driven actor, Joseph Cohen. In an insightful interview, Joseph talked about his aspirations for pilot season to the joys of filming and his 2025 goals, Joseph offered a candid look into his world.
As pilot season approaches, we were eager to hear about Joseph’s ideal role. “That’s a good question,” he admitted. “I don’t know if I have a particular role in mind. I suppose one that is in a very deep character study, a psychological drama maybe. I always love those kinds of roles. Films like ‘Joker’ and ‘Shadowlands’ stand out to me for their very deep character studies, and the first film for its psychological nature.”
Joseph’s career has taken him to various corners of the globe for filming, including the US and Germany. We asked him about the best part of working overseas. His answer was immediate: “Seeing all these different locations and learning about the history behind them, as I love history very much.” This appreciation for history and cultural immersion adds another layer to his performance, allowing him to connect with the material in a deeper, more meaningful way.

The life of an actor can be demanding, requiring intense focus and emotional commitment. We were curious about how Joseph stays grounded and centered when embodying a character. He explained that it’s difficult to pinpoint one thing, but that relaxation is paramount. “Ask pretty much any actor and acting teacher, and this goes for more than just the acting profession, and they will tell you that without relaxation, don’t expect to give a great performance. You need to remove the tension in your body, not all of it, as that’s impossible, and a little bit of tension helps to keep you on your toes, but most of it.”
He referenced the wisdom of Lee Strasberg, who said, “When there is tension, one cannot think or feel.” Joseph relies on resources like “The Ultimate Guide to Method Acting” by Brian Timoney and “An Actor Prepares” by Konstantin Stanislavski to hone his relaxation techniques. He considers Timoney’s guide a cornerstone of his practice, emphasizing the importance of mastering this fundamental aspect of acting. He studies them like a bible.
2025: New Screenplays Confirmed & Film News!

Looking ahead to 2025, Joseph has set some goals for himself. He revealed that he is currently working on two screenplays: “They’re very nearly done, and then I intend to work on selling them very soon.” His inspiration comes from Sylvester Stallone’s experience with “Rocky,” where Stallone insisted on playing the lead role as a condition of selling the screenplay. “I’m hoping to sell the screenplays, make them into films, and at the very least star in one or both of those films as the lead and also get myself noticed. I know it sounds a little crazy, or maybe more than a little crazy, but I’m still going to try.” This determination to take control of his career and create opportunities for himself speaks volumes about his drive and ambition.
Adding to his already busy schedule, Joseph also shared that several short films and a TV pilot he starred in are slated for submission to film festivals.
