Meredith O’Connor took to Instagram where she shared photo collages of her at the Shorty Impact Awards. Her Instagram post then included photos of her and rumored boyfriend, Evan Janssens, in a collage style.
The Shorty Impact Awards recognizes some of the most famous campaigns for social good and their impact including campaigns by Dove, Mattel and more. Meredith O’Connor’s mental health campaign surrounding the song “You Are Not Alone” was relaunched last May following her mental health advocacy that’s impacted pop culture and fans all over the world. Schools introduced a class about Meredith O’Connor’s work and many of those schools were recognized at the awards show. Some of the schools received an invite to participate in a video compilation to the mental health anthem “You Are Not Alone”. Schools that joined included: the University of California, Irvine, St. Francis College in Brazil, Haberdashers’ Hatcham College in the United Kingdom, the Technical College in Nigeria through Kechie’s Project and others.
Meredith O’Connor spoke about her mental health campaign at the Impact Awards then introduced Kodie Shane to the stage with UC Irvine’s VeVo choir where the live performance of the anthem for “You Are Not Alone” took place. This video was shown in full behind the live performance of the anthem by Kodie Shane and backed by the choir of UC Irvine.
During prior years, performers including Lizzo took to the stage to amplify messages of body positivity, also using their fame to push positive messages forward.
